Lily Tomlin, one of America's foremost comedians, continues to venture across the ever-widening range of media by starring in television, theater, motion pictures, animation and video. Among her awards: six Emmys; a Tony for her one woman Broadway show, APPEARING NITELY; a second Tony as Best Actress, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics’ Circle Award for her one woman performance in Jane Wagner’s The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe; a CableAce Award for Executive Producing the film adaptation of The Search; a Grammy for her comedy album, This is a Recording; and two Peabodys (Edith Ann’s Christmas: Just Say Noël and The Celluloid Closet.) She rose to fame in the early ’70s as “Ernestine,” the irascible telephone operator and “Edith Ann,” the devilish 6-year-old, on the TV series Laugh In. Tomlin received an Academy Award nomination for Robert Altman's Nashville (’75). She also appeared in the film 9 To 5 with Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton and played the president’s assistant on NBC’s The West Wing.
